This Holiday Season Dress to Impress

Yay! It is almost that time of year that we all love and cherish the holidays. With the holidays being just around the corner have you decided what you are going to wear? And most importantly have you started your gift list? (Coming Soon: Our Top 10 Gift Ideas) Worry no more I have 2 looks on how you can transition your fall fashion into holiday without the need of that ugly Christmas sweater. The holidays are all about family, friends getting together and most importantly stuffing our faces with delicious food! We don’t want to over do it when it comes to dressing up for the holidays.  Especially Thanksgiving because let’s face it we are probably going to end in a food comma right after. We want to feel comfortable but yet look fashionable during this season and not look like a hot mess. Right? I have come up with 2 different outfits that you can wear for these holidays. Outfits and accessories that aren’t only affordable but you can also wear it year round (if you really want it to).

Look #1: Thanksgiving Day

This outfit works out great because you will be wearing the leather, but not over doing it with the cozy sweater top. The accessories give it a fashion touch with the variation of gold chains coming from the watch and pearls that match the sweater. The tan scarf gives it a soft touch of color to the black and white outfit.

Look #2: Christmas Day

This outfit works out great because you will be wearing the zip detailed shoulder sweater dress that is nicely tucked in a black pleated skirt (or can be tucked out with leggings). The accessories give it a fashion touch with the variation of gold chains coming from the watch and red carnelian stones that match the sweater. The Dreams of gold clutch gives an elegant finish touch to the overall outfit.

Vanessa’s Sourcing Adventures in China Pt. 2

A lot of people say they love traveling but I doubt they ever mean the act of traveling. I mean a 14 hour flight is certainly not MY idea of a good time. But armed with some Dramamine and music, I thought I was all set. Little did I know I was in for some turbulent weather! Allow me to go down the laundry list of some of the headaches I encountered:
  • Flight delayed enough that I would miss my connecting flight to Hong Kong
  • Poor Ray up in the middle of the night trying to book me another flight but NOTHING was available
  • Told I still had a chance to catch my connecting flight but when I got there was told it was long gone.
  • Had to complain to an agent to get a comp’d room for the night.
  • Waited 4 hours in the airport for my luggage to find out they can’t find it
  • It was freezing cold where I was and I sure wasn’t dressed for it
  • Originally booked a window seat but when I rebooked all that was left was a middle seat(hey, it was a looooong 14 hour flight!)
Despite the tough time getting to Hong Kong (and the fact I missed a whole day) I’m grateful to be here! I’m blessed to have a day of sightseeing before doing some actual work so without further ado, I give you my first photos:

Vanessa’s Sourcing Adventures in China Pt. 1

For the next couple of weeks I thought it would be nice to give you guys an inside look at what it’s like to travel to China on a sourcing trip through my eyes. But first, let me introduce myself. My name is Vanessa and I work here at Winky Designs as the wholesale and press manager. I am also finishing up my undergraduate studies at the Las Vegas Art Institute with a degree in Fashion Management and Marketing. Before you think I’m Wonder Woman and can do all things at all times, sadly I am not (how cool would it be to have that golden lasso though). It takes a lot of time management and juggling, sleepless nights catching up on work, and sometimes dozing off in class because I got zero sleep during those aforementioned sleepless nights. Even with the very full plate of responsibilities I have in front of me, I always dedicate my all into everything I do and honestly try my best. This is why I was given the AH-MAZING opportunity to go to China with my bosses, Winky and Ray of Winky Designs, and help source for the upcoming seasons. I danced my happy dance of joy (which also coincidently looks like the Snoopy dance in Charlie Brown cartoons but that is neither here nor there) and immediately said YES with a resounding shout. Fast forward a few months and here I am, a college girl with big dreams, sourcing in China. Somebody pinch me. These next few weeks I will give you an insight into what I’ve seen, learned, ate, and bought. I promise it will be both entertaining and eye-opening…ENJOY!

Get Your Frenchie On!

image

Watch out “Boo” (the popular dog all over the media) there’s a new pup in town, the French bulldog also known as “Frenchies”. They aren’t only cute and adorable pets to have but lately I have been seeing them everywhere…it’s crazy and I love it!
Here are a few fun facts about French Bulldogs (so you can get to know about them if you haven’t already got on the trend):
  • Frenchies are playful and affectionate.
  • Brigitte, the bulldog who plays Stella on Modern Family, has the distinction of being the first bulldog to win a Golden Collar award.
  • Their loyal, loving nature makes them a wonderful companion dog.
  • French Bulldogs are an intelligent breed, however their willful, stubborn nature can make them more challenging to train. They require patience, repetition and early socialization.
  • Many celebrities own bulldogs including Leonardo DiCaprio, Reese Witherspoon, David Beckham, Ashley Olsen, Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, and Martha Stewart.
  • There are three types of Bulldogs: English, American and the “Frenchie” from France.
French Bulldogs would be consider “The Cool Kids” also known as the popular kids of course if dogs were to go to High School. French Bulldogs aren’t only been seen around carried by celebrities near Rodeo Drive, but they inspire fashion designers like Marc Jacobs. French Bulldogs are a trend seen in home décor, fashion, jewelry, etc.
